Tottenham Hotspur v Dinamo Zagreb - UEFA Cup

Dinamo get Europa points reprieve

Dinamo Zagreb have had their three-point penalty quashed by UEFA and instead been handed a 75,000 euros fine and a suspended three-year ban.

This was following the "serious crowd disturbances" before and during their Europa League clash with FC Timisoara last month.

Dinamo Zagreb have had their three-point penalty quashed by UEFA and instead been handed a 75,000 euros fine and a suspended three-year ban following the "serious crowd disturbances" before and during their Europa League clash with FC Timisoara last month.

Trouble flared in Timisoara city centre and at the stadium with over 30 Dinamo supporters arrested on October 1. Dinamo won the match 3-0 only to subsequently have their points tally in Group A amended from three to zero.

However, their appeal proved successful as a UEFA statement today read: "After examining the written submission of both parties, the chairman of the appeals body complied with the identical request submitted by Dinamo Zagreb and the UEFA disciplinary inspector, and decided to replace the initial three-point deduction from the Croatian club with a €75,000 fine plus a suspended three-year ban from all UEFA competitions.

"The rest of the decision regarding their stadium ban for their next two UEFA Europa League Group A home games - already played against AFC Ajax on 5 November, and against Timisoara on 17 December - remains unchanged."
