Jordan claim maiden win
Jordan recorded a first win of their Asian Cup qualifying campaign as Amer Deeb scored to edge out Iran.
Deeb converted from close range with 11 minutes remaining at King Abdullah International Stadium to hand Iran a first defeat.
With two games remaining Iran remain at the top of the table with seven points, one clear of Singapore, with third-placed Thailand a point further back and Jordan moving onto four points.
Needing a win to remain in contention, the home side made an encouraging start as Mohammad Abdelhalim was denied by Iran goalkeeper Seyed Mahdi Rahmati before Iman Mobali fired over for the visitors.
Jordan continued to dominate as Deeb fired just wide after 19 minutes before Iran's Andranik Teymourian saw his header saved by Jordan goalkeeper Amer Shafi 11 minutes later.
Iran nearly broke the deadlock six minutes after the break but Ehsan Haji Safi could only fire over the crossbar from close range before Pejman Nouri was denied by Shafi.
Jordan came close to breaking the deadlock six minutes after the hour mark as Mohamad Jamal headed against the crossbar.
But they were finally rewarded as Al Saify crossed for Deeb to convert from close range.
