Dutch Eredivisie Saturday Review

FC Twente returned to the Eredivisie summit with a 3-1 win away to Willem II.

Wout Brama gave Steve McClaren's side the lead inside eight minutes but Christophe Gregoire levelled from the penalty spot on the quarter-hour.

Miroslav Stoch restored the Enschede side's lead and Bryan Ruiz clinched the points in the second half as Twente moved two points clear of PSV Eindhoven.

Goals from Jeremain Lens and Brett Holman earned AZ Alkmaar all three points at home to VVV Venlo to leave them fifth in the table.

Lens opened the scoring after 21 minutes and Holman wrapped up the points with the second goal seven minutes into the second half.

Roda JC's late rally was in vain as Heracles held on to win by the odd goal in five and climb to seventh place.

Everton gave the hosts a deserved 1-0 half-time lead and they appeared in control when Bas Dost and Willy Overtoom made it 3-0 with just over a quarter of an hour remaining.

Mads Junker and Pa-Modou Kah cut the deficit to a single goal but the hosts clung on.

Viktor Elm scored twice as Heerenveen condemned RKC Waalwijk to their 12th defeat of the season to keep Ruud Brood's side anchored to the bottom of the standings.

Elm could afford to miss a penalty but his double as well as Roy Beerens' strike rendered Fred Benson's effort immaterial as the hosts claimed their third home win of the season.
