Former Sunderland, Leeds and Newcastle striker Michael Bridges has extended his contract with Australia's Newcastle Jets until the end of the 2012 A-League season.

Former Sunderland, Leeds and Newcastle striker Michael Bridges has extended his contract with Australia's Newcastle Jets until the end of the 2012 A-League season.

Bridges, who returned Down Under in October, has scored four goals in seven matches and the club were keen to retain his services for the next two seasons.

The 31-year-old said: "I am absolutely delighted. It has been fantastic since I have come here both on and off the field."
