RKC Waalwijk 0-2 PSV Eindhoven

RKC Waalwijk 0-2 PSV Eindhoven

PSV Eindhoven's winning run reached double figures as headers from Jonathan Reis and Danko Lazovic defeated Waalwijk.

Seven of PSV's 10 successive victories have come in the Dutch league and they have joined FC Twente in an enthralling battle for supremacy at the top of the table.

Fred Rutten's side took more than an hour to make the breakthrough against strugglers RKC, however they then shut the door on the home side's hopes of taking anything from the fixture to aid in their desperate situation.

Unbeaten in the league after 16 matches, PSV threatened an early goal today when Reis gave a warning of what was to come.

He was allowed to get in a header from the centre of the penalty area and the ball was heading towards the bottom right corner only for midfielder Shkodran Metaj to deflect the ball over the crossbar.

That incident occurred in the 11th minute, and 10 minutes later Reis saw another header brilliantly saved by Ohad Levita.

Reis was tormenting the RKC defence and had another chance just after the half-hour mark when Levita was called on to make another classy save to repel his left-footed strike.

Levita was defying PSV well and winger Balazs Dzsudzsak was the next man to threaten, however the goalkeeper made a decent stop to his right.

RKC roused the home crowd just before the interval when Andreas Isaksson had to make a decent stop from Kemy Agustien's free-kick which beat the PSV wall.

Two minutes after the interval, RKC's Fouad Idabdelhay drove a shot just wide of the left post following Fred Benson's cross from the right.

RKC then threatened again after 63 minutes when Benson went closest of all by that stage, cracking a shot against the crossbar after combining well with Charlison Benschop.

After that escape, PSV scored a minute later. Dzsudzsak crossed from the right and unmarked Reis headed into the bottom left corner.

PSV doubled their lead and ended RKC's hopes of taking anything from the contest seven minutes from time when Dzsudzsak's cross from the right found the head of Lazovic and he directed his header beyond Levita and into the left corner.
