AFC Qualifier: Yemen vs Bahrain Preview
Bahrain coach Milan Macala is taking nothing for granted when they meet Yemen in a 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualifier.
The visitors have already secured their place in next year's finals in Qatar alongside Japan thanks to four consecutive Group A victories but Macala, who will field players drawn primarily from the domestic Bahrain league, warned against complacency when they take on a team they beat 4-0 in Manama last November.
"Yemen are a good, ambitious team and they embarrassed Japan in their last game as they were 2-0 ahead," the Czech coach stressed.
"We will play with an attacking formation. We want to continue winning in the group as we are the only side who have won all the matches in the group so far.
"The match is important for us even though we have secured our place in the finals. We want to continue winning in order to finish top of the group, which will help us in the draw."
Yemen almost shocked Japan in Sana'a last time out, going down 3-2 after leading the match 2-0.
That performance has given coach Srecko Juricic enough belief that his side can pose a much tougher test for Bahrain than the last meeting between the two sides.
"In the previous game we lost 4-0 but this time around, it will be a totally different encounter," said the 55-year-old Croatian.
"The performance of the team has developed quite well since that defeat and it is improving from one game to another. There are some mistakes but the most important thing is that the performances are getting better."
