Derby vs Newcastle Preview
David Martin could make his Derby debut against Newcastle on Tuesday night at Pride Park, if his move from Millwall goes through in time.
The winger is poised to join Nigel Clough's side on an emergency loan on Tuesday morning and, if the deal is done by noon, he is expected to take his place on the bench. New signing Javan Vidal was an unused substitute in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Sheffield United and will be pushing to make his debut at Pride Park. Midfielder Lee Croft could also make the squad after returning to full training following his recovery from a hamstring injury. Dean Leacock and Lee Hendrie will definitely not feature as they continue to battle against their respective knee and hamstring injuries. Alan Smith is set to make a return to the Newcastle squad. The experienced midfielder missed Friday evening's 5-1 victory over Cardiff with a thigh problem, but is available for the game at Pride Park. However, Fabricio Coloccini, who also missed out against the Bluebirds with a hamstring strain, remains a doubt, while Nicky Butt (thigh) will be sidelined once again. Loan signing Patrick van Aanholt will continue to deputise for Jose Enrique (hamstring), while Steven Taylor is expected to be out for around two months with a medial ligament strain. Midfielder Joey Barton is finally due to return to training after a long-standing foot injury this week and could yet have a significant part to play as the season reaches its conclusion.
