Blanc philosophical in defeat
Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc refused to look for excuses after his side were dumped out of the Coupe de France by Monaco.
Les Girondins went down 2-0 to a goal in each half from Djimi Traore and Moussa Maazou as the French champions' miserable week continued.
And Blanc, whose side were beaten 4-2 by Rennes in Ligue 1 on Saturday, accepted his team were second best last night.
"Looking at the content of the game, there's nothing to say," said the former France defender.
"We must be honest. They were superior in all aspects of the game.
"We were wasteful, tried to be too technical, and we did not look likely to score, although we did put them in difficulty in the first 20 minutes.
"Monaco were better. We wanted more. It was extremely difficult to develop our game, and we defended poorly."
Monaco coach Guy Lacombe agreed that his side were good value for their win, albeit against an understrength Bordeaux outfit who were without Marouane Chamakh and Marc Planus through suspension and the injured Alou Diarra.
"We can say that throughout the game, we deserved the victory," he said on www.lequipe.fr.
"We saw a cup scenario and the boys responded (after Sunday's 3-0 defeat at St Etienne).
"But it should also be noted that this was not the dominating Bordeaux. They are on a low right now, and they were missing three players of a very high level."
