Yokohama F Marinos president is confident the club will sign Shunsuke Nakamura before the start of the 2010 J.League season.

The 31-year-old former Celtic star has struggled to make an impact in Spain since joining Espanyol on a free transfer last summer.

Kaetsu confirmed Marinos have discussed a move for Nakamura with the player's agent and is hopeful a deal can be concluded before they open their domestic campaign on March 6.

"I spoke to Nakamura's agent and told him the conditions that Marinos can offer," he said in the Manichi Shimbun newspaper.

"It is better for us to have him on a full transfer and that's the offer that we have made.

"Taking long in negotiations won't make the situation better so it is better to get things done in a short period of time if possible."
