Bosnich shines, contract beckons
Mark Bosnich looks set to sign for Central Coast Mariners after a man of the match display in a 3-0 win over Sydney FC.
The 36-year-old former Manchester United and Chelsea goalkeeper has spent the last week training with the A-League Mariners and before Sunday had not made a senior appearance since playing for Chelsea against Everton in November 2001.
But he made a perfect return with a superb performance in the Pre-Season Cup match, pulling off a number of stunning saves including a penalty from Steve Corica in the 70th minute.
Brad Porter had opened the scoring for the Mariners two minutes before half-time before striker Sasho Petrovski added a second on the hour mark.
Eight minutes later substitute Sasho Petrovski netted from the penalty spot to seal the win.
Elsewhere, Queensland Roar were held to a 1-1 draw by Wellington Phoenix at Stockdale Stadium.
Sergio van Dijk opened the scoring for Roar in the 18th minute but Adam Kwasnik grabbed the equaliser with 16 minutes remaining to earn a share of the spoils.
