Fergie: I need the power of four
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his desire for another striker to strengthen Man United's bid for another Treble.
The Red Devils are expected to launch another bid for Dimitar Berbatov and Roque Santa Cruz in the next three days.
The Scotsman's side struggles to a mediocre draw against Newcastle at Old Trafford, and lacked the much needed firepower upfront to fuel the club's patented attacks.
Man United were missing Carlos Tevez due to personal reasons and Cristiano Ronaldo was out with an injury, leaving Wayne Rooney was the lone striker to lead the line. Rooney had just recovered from a virus he caught in United's tour of Nigeria.
Even if Ferguson has all these players fit to play, he still wants another live body in his striking crew.
Manchester United has four great hitmen in 1999 when they won the Treble, and that is the aim for this season.
"We are working on bringing in another top striker," said Sir Alex. "Having added strength up front is a situation I would really enjoy."
"Ideally, I like to operate with four experienced strikers, as we did when we won the Treble when we had Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Solskjaer."
Tottenham Hotspur are demanding US$60 million for the brilliant Berbatov, while Ferguson will need US$36 million for Blackburn to even consider a sale.
