Portsmouth and Manchester United met three times last season with each side winning once and one ending in a draw.

Man United had the upper hand in the league. They drew at Fratton Park and then won at Old Trafford 2-0 with a Cristiano Ronaldo double.

But Portsmouth upset the Reds in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Sulley Ali Muntari's penalty 12 minutes from time propelled Pompey into the semis and on their way to FA Cup glory.

This will be the third of the new season with Manchester United winning 1-0 in a preseason friendly in Nigeria and the Community Shield match two weeks ago.
