Rooney relishes return to form

Wayne Rooney says his confidence is well and truly back after helping Manchester United easily beat Blackburn 2-0.

The England international, who now has three goals in three games, had an indifferent start to the season, but is now firing on all cylinders ahead of his country's two World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus.

After netting against Bolton Wanderers last weekend, Aalborg in the Champions League on Tuesday and now Blackburn, Rooney has been quick to claim that he is the same player he has always been.

"Once you get your first goal of the season your confidence is sky-high. I've not really been doing anything differently," the 22-year-old said.

"I'm not doing anything different to what I was doing at the start of the season. I've just been taking my chances - that's the only real difference."

Wes Brown opened the scoring for United at Ewood Park in the first half, before Rooney scored a classy goal in the second period to put the icing on yet another impressive display by the Old Trafford outfit.

The performance against Paul Ince's men was one that left Rooney smiling from ear to ear.

"It's a great result for us because it's been a difficult place to come to in the last few years," Rooney told Setanta Sports.

"The conditions weren't the best, it was raining heavily, but I thought we played well and deserved the win.

"We moved the ball well at times. We were confident in possession and getting the goal in the first half allowed us to pass the ball more freely in the second half. We knew we'd get the chances to finish the game off and we did."
