Roy Keane bins quit rumours

Sunderland manager Roy Keane has rubbished rumours that he is about to quit the club after intense speculation.

It was reported that Keane was unhappy with the Sunderland fans after his team was booed after the Carling Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers in midweek.

According to Sky Sports after Sunderland's 2-1 at Ewood Park in the league, Keane said: "Honestly, I have been in football a long, long time and particularly since I have gone to Sunderland there seems to be a story every week about something.

"Where do the stories come from? I honestly haven't got a clue. It is just crazy.

"The answer is obviously no. I am very happy and obviously even happier when we win football matches.

"But these stories that I am not happy or that I am resigning is just nonsense."

Keane then went on to say he was satisfied with the way his team came back from one goal down to win the game and had some nice words for the supports.

"In the first half we were disappointing and under a lot of pressure from Blackburn, particularly from corners," Keane said. "To concede just on half time was a hammer blow for us.

"At half time we questioned the players and asked them how much they wanted it and how badly they wanted to get back into the game. They came out and we were outstanding in the second half.

"It was a good reflection on the players, particularly the two lads up front who are getting a new partnership together.

"As a manager of a football club I have to stir things up sometimes and I did that at half time and I got a good reaction.

"We had great support behind the goal and it was great that we scored our goals in front of them and hopefully it will be a happy trip home for the Sunderland fans. They have been fantastic for us."
