Spurs and Pompey agree Defoe fee
England striker Jermain Defoe is set to return to White Hart Lane after Spurs and Portsmouth agreed to a fee.
The Daily Mail reported that the North London club has agreed to pay US$21.8m for their former striker who left the club only a year ago after being stuck behind Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov in the pecking order.
Both Berbatov and Keane have moved on to Manchester United and Liverpool respectively with Darren Bent, Frazier Campbell and newcomer Roman Payvluchenko the only recognized strikers at the Lane.
Defoe is keen on a return to reunite with Harry Redknapp who was the man who gave him his big break at West Ham United along with Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick and Rio Ferdinand.
Spurs have also agreed to waive off the outstanding amount owed from Portsmouth for Younes Kaboul, the former Auxerre defender who joined them last January.
