Manchester City are set to bid US$14million for German striker Lukas Podolski who is unsettled at Bayern Munich.

It is believed that Mark Hughes has been on the trail of the striker ever since he took over at Eastlands.

Manchester City are short of world-class talent up-front and Podolski could be the answer.

 The 23-year-old has expressed a desire to move on from Bayern due to a lack of first team options, and the Blues are ready to meet the asking price of £9.6million for the Polish-born frontman.
