Report: Ronaldo set to join Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo is allegedly set to join Real Madrid at the end of the season, this according to a Spanish journalist.

Guillem Balague, a football expert for Sky Sports' Spanish football team who is working in London as a correspondent for Don Balón, has claimed on his website that the Man United superstar's representative Jorge Mendes has been successful in negotiations with Real Madrid supremo Ramon Calderon and the Portuguese winger will complete the transfer in the summer.

Earlier reports had indicated that a pact had been struck with Florentino Perez, which the former Real president would use to strengthen his bid to return to the top of the Bernabeu.

Guillem Balague, a football expert for Sky Sports' Spanish football team working in London as a correspondent for Don Balón, has claimed on his website that the Man United superstar's representative Jorge Mendes has been successful in negotiations with Real Madrid supremo Ramon Calderon and the Portuguese winger will complete the transfer this offseason.

Earlier reports had indicated that a pact had been struck with Florentino Perez, which the former Real president would use to strengthen his bid to return to the top of the Bernabeu.

However, Calderon has swooped to strike a deal with the FIFA World Player of the Year, prompting the wing wizard to state in an interview: "My agent does not have an agreement with Florentino Perez."

It has been reported that the Man United star's form (ten goals in 25 games), as well as his demeanour on and off the pitch, is an indication that all is not well at Old Trafford.

However, the decision whether to sell Ronaldo or not still falls very much in the hands of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Meanwhile, Los Merengues are confident in their bid for the superstar, to the extent that they have stopped negotiations for Wigan Athletic's Antonio Valencia to save funds for the mega-deal.

Balague, for his part, reportedly has "access to the details of the agreement, including the financial terms," which he will reveal soon.
