Megson sees no reason to panic
Bolton boss Gary Megson has told his players there is no reason to panic despite three successive defeats.
Wanderers have dropped to 12th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone, but the visit of the champions signals the end of a run of fixtures in which they have faced Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Megson, therefore, is urging his players to remain focused and not worry too much about their league position.
"It is vital we don't implode," he said. "I think the table is going to be like this for some time. It is going to be very, very tight."
Midfielder Matt Taylor, who led the side in last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Arsenal in the absence of suspended captain Kevin Nolan, is confident their fortunes will change.
"Against Arsenal we did ourselves proud and did the manager proud - that's something we can take into the next game," he told the Bolton News.
"The tough games come thick and fast in the Premier League and next we've got Manchester United.
"But once we get them out of the way we have only got Chelsea away, and that's the top four done, barring Aston Villa at home.
"We've got a good run-in and I don't think we will have any problems. I think we should be looking upwards rather than behind us."
Megson is still working on bringing in players to bolster his threadbare squad but has yet to make a decision on whether to sign former Brazil international Denilson.
The player's brother and agent suggested a deal had to be done by today or they would look elsewhere.
However, Wanderers are not prepared to rush into signing the 31-year-old, once the world's most expensive player, who has been on trial having left Palmeiras in December.
"We have yet to make a decision yet - he is still on trial," said a Bolton spokesman.
The left-winger cost Real Betis about £21.5million when he moved from Sao Paulo in 1998 but he struggled to live up to that price tag.
He arrived in Bolton last week after unsuccessful spells at Flamengo, Bordeaux, Al-Nasr in Saudi Arabia, FC Dallas and Palmeiras.
Denis de Oliveira Araujo, Denilson's brother, claimed he expected the situation to be sorted today.
"Bolton board members told us that Denilson's situation has to be settled on Wednesday," he said.
"If they do not give us an answer then I am going to consider that the negotiation is over and, in this case, we have a proposal from another European club."
Reports are also linking Bolton with a £5million move for Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard.
Megson has already been unsuccessful with bids for West Brom's James Morrison and Newcastle's Joey Barton and Bullard represents the type of player Megson wants to buy, but probably not at the fee being quoted.
There are also doubts over whether the player, who moved to the Cottagers from Wigan for £2.5million in 2006 to be nearer his family, would welcome a return to the north west.
