Taiwo set for City move

Marseille's Nigerian left-back Taye Taiwo could still join Manchester City this month according to his agent.

The Nigeria defender was heavily linked with a move to City before the January transfer window opened, but interest has cooled since the signing of left-back Wayne Bridge from Chelsea.

Despite Marseille owner Pape Diouf recently reiterating that Taiwo will stay put, Victor Macdonald told Lagos radio station Brila FM that his client is still keen on swapping Ligue 1 for the Barclays Premier League.

"For Marseille to say no is not just something to wave away just like that," he said. "It means they cannot just be speaking for saying's sake.

"They actually need Taiwo because he is a good player, but that is not to say they cannot be convinced to sell him.

"If Man City offer the right money, Marseille will sell - I'm quite sure.

"I am happy for Taye Taiwo and it's a good opportunity for him to get a good transfer and make some good money in football."
