Redknapp hits back at Benitez

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp launched an attack on Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, after his 3-2 defeat to Bolton.

Redknapp was left fuming over Benitez's claims this week he had deliberately sought to unsettle out-of-sorts Reds striker Robbie Keane with comments aimed at bringing him back to White Hart Lane.

Redknapp said: "The comments I made, there was absolutely nothing wrong with them. I don't know why the manager of Liverpool gets upset about everything - it is strange.

"I said Robbie is a terrific player and a good lad but he belongs to Liverpool so it's not a possibility. It's crazy. I never mentioned I was interested in him. It was never a goer really."

Redknapp revealed there is still no confirmation over the extent of the training-ground injury suffered by Jermain Defoe with the striker yet to go for a scan on his suspected broken foot.

But he praised substitute Darren Bent for his two second-half goals, which came after Davies and Sebastien Puygrenier had put the hosts two ahead, adding: "Darren came on and worked his socks off and, if he does that every week, we haven't got a problem - he'll be fantastic.

"We came back to 2-2 and there was really only one winner at that stage. How were they 2-0 up with two shots on goal? But Kevin Davies comes up and he's fantastic for them."
