Torres: I'll end Kop goal drought

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is looking to score his first goal at Anfield this season, especially against rivals Chelsea.

Torres believes playing the Blues at Anfield will be the perfect stage for him to end an eight-month long goal drought at home.

The Spain international has netted six goals this season so far - but all of them came away from home.

And, El Nino's last strike at Anfield was against Manchester City in May 2008. Having struggled with injuries this season, Torres has battled hard to regain his fitness.

He wants to head the fans cheering his name once again - by scoring against Chelsea - a fixture which Torres incidentally scored his first goal iin English football in August 2007.

The 24-year-old told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It was my first game at Anfield in front of the Liverpool fans so it is a very special memory for me. I also scored my first goal in that game so it was the beginning of everything.

"Because of this there would be no game that would be better for me to score again at Anfield. I know there will be so many people watching the game and our fans will be really wanting us to win so hopefully I can play at my best and score a goal.

"The record is something I want to change - for me, for my team and for the fans.

"Like I said, this has been a strange season for me and I have not been able to play in as many games or score as many goals as I would have liked but hopefully this will change."

Despite speculation that Reds manager Rafael Benitez has "lost the plot" in the club's chase for silverware, Torres remained unaffected and insisted he wants to achieve honours with Liverpool.

He said: "But more than anything I want to win a trophy with Liverpool and for this to happen we have to start winning more games.

"It's not just in the league either, we also have the FA Cup and the Champions League to aim for, so there are a lot of big games coming up.

"But we are in a good position in all of these competitions and we have to be positive. I hope that this season will turn out to be a good one for Liverpool and for me."
