Bosingwa apologises to Yossi

Jose Bosingwa has apologised for his challenge on Yossi Benayoun towards the end of the 2-0 defeat at Liverpool.

As the clock ticked down at Anfield, Benayoun shielded the ball in the corner in front of the Kop and Bosingwa reacted by putting his foot into the Israeli's back and shoving him off the field.

He escaped punishment at the time as seemingly neither referee Mike Riley nor his assistant, who was stood just a couple of feet away, missed the incident.

The Football Association are now waiting for Riley's report, amid calls for action to be taken against Bosingwa.

The Portuguese defender told the club's official website: "I apologise for what I did and it was never my intention to hurt him.

"I know it was wrong and I apologise."
