Bent: I was missing too many

Tottenham striker Darren Bent has admitted he is suffering from poor form, with only one goal in his last 14 games.

The 16 million pound striker scored 11 goals in his first 16 appearances, despite Tottenham's poor start to the season.

However, he is now going through a rough patch of form, culminating with his horrendous miss against Portsmouth that coach Harry Redknapp stated his wife could have scored.

Although the ex-Charlton man bagged a brace in Spurs' 3-2 loss at Bolton last weekend, he has revealed that of late he has been out of form.

Bent told the Daily Mail newspaper: "I had a dip in form before the Bolton game but I'm back now. It came from nowhere and that can happen.

"At times you feel like everything you hit will go in and it was the same in training before that, everything was going in but in the last few weeks it changed and it felt like I was missing chance after chance.

"Sometimes it happens but I'm a confident guy and I'll stay positive. I know if I get into the positions I'll score the goals."

Bent's short-term future is uncertain following the return of White Hart Lane favourites Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.

Also, with Roman Pavlyuchenko starting to show the form that encouraged the Lilywhites to pay 13.8 million pounds for him last August, competition for places will be heated.
