Hansen: Reds can push for glory
Alan Hansen believes Liverpool can turn the heat on leaders Manchester United if the team can put together a winning streak.
The legendary Anfield centre-back is confident the Reds will continue their push for the Premier League title after watching them clinch a last-gasp victory over Portsmouth last weekend.
Hansen feels Liverpool must continue to collect all three points from the matches - if they are planning to capitalise on any slip-up by United.
"It's all about putting pressure on Manchester United now," he told LFC Magazine. "They responded to Liverpool's win over Portsmouth by winning at West Ham the following day, but it was a very tight game and could have ended in a draw.
"Liverpool have just got to keep winning and winning because that will keep the pressure right on them.
"We've seen time and time again that things can change dramatically on one bad result, so Liverpool have got to keep putting the pressure on."
Hansen was particularly impressed with Fabio Aurelio's performance - with the Brazilian putting in a solid display in midfield in their 3-2 victory over Pompey at Fratton Park.
"Aurelio was asked to play in central midfield, a position Rafa utilised him in at Valencia, and I thought he played well," he said.
"He was good in possession, played the ball well and in the first half he was probably Liverpool's best player.
"That tells its own story and speaks volumes for Aurelio, that he can go into a big Premier League game and play so well in central midfield.
"It gives us another option in midfield and perhaps more so in a wide midfield role."
