Aurelio: Every game is a final

Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio is treating every league game as a final from now till the end of the season.

Aurelio's side have picked up 17 points to Manchester United's 24 since the Red Devils returned from the Club World Championship in Japan just before Christmas.

However, he is adamt that Rafa Benitez's side will continue to battle United till the end for the league title.

Aurelio told The Telegraph: "I don't think they will get positive results right until the end of the season and we still have to go to Old Trafford. If we keep getting our points we'll have chance to beat them.

"Every game is a final now if we want to fight for the title at the end. If United don't lose they will finish a few points ahead but we still have to make sure we do our part.

"The most important thing for Liverpool and the players is the Premier League. It would be great to do well in the Champions League, but we know this season the focus is on the league."

Liverpool take on Mark Hughes' Manchester City this weekend hoping to build on their away victory at Portsmouth the last time out.
