Pompey quell Eriksson talk

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie has ruled out a fresh approach for manager Sven Goran Eriksson.

Following the sacking of ex-Pompey boss Tony Adams in February, Eriksson was linked with the vacant post on the South Coast.

But the Swede played down the rumours as he looked to concentrate on his role as Mexico head coach.

However, the former Manchester City and England boss was sacked as Mexico manager after the 3-1 defeat to Honduras in midweek.

With Eriksson now out of work, reports have suggested he could be set for a return to the Premier League, but Storrie has played down speculation suggesting he is destined for Fratton Park.

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie said in The Sun: "We were interested in Sven but that was then, this is now.

"(Interim manager) Paul (Hart) and (assistant coach) Brian (Kidd) are making great progress."
