Giggs: United Greatest XI

Welsh wizard Ryan Giggs reveals the eleven greatest Manchester United players to have battled alongside him.

Watch Giggsy celebrate his 11th league title!

The winger had a tough time picking his man between the sticks and had to settle for a tie between Peter Schmeichel and Edwin Van der Sar.

"Peter was one of the best players I played with," Giggs is reported to have told the Daily Mail. "He was a match-winner who would save the game for United because he was such a good goalkeeper.

"Now I play with Edwin. They are both great goalkeepers. It wouldn't matter who played in goal."

As for defence, Giggsy had no problems naming his four choices with Gary Neville, Jaap Stam, Rio Ferdinand and Dennis Irwin forming the defensive wall.

The four midfielders included himself and his 1999 treble-winning teammates, Roy Keane, David Beckham and Paul Scholes.

He did take time out to praise his fellow United veteran, Scholes when he said: "He does things I couldn't do. The time he has on the ball, his range of passing and ability to score goals make him probably the best I've ever seen."

At the top of the tree, he chose the flamboyant Frenchman Eric Cantona to partner Wayne Rooney while leaving out Cristiano Ronaldo.
