Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka is delighted that be pipped Cristiano Ronaldo to this season's Premier League Golden Boot award.

Anelka secured the award with a stunning strike in last weekend's 3-2 win over Sunderland to take his tally to 19 goals in the league.

The Frenchman admitted that he was wondering whether Ronaldo would continue scoring goals for Manchester United in the league.

"I have been scoring goals this season and I wanted to finish on top," Anelka told Sky Sports News.

"You are always thinking, is he [Ronaldo] going to score? What should I do to score?

"In the last game I was thinking about it, but I stayed focused and had the chance to make this shot and it is good because it is a goal so I am very pleased."
