Bendtner in for the long haul
Nicklas Bendtner is keen to sign a long-term deal with Arsenal, while Emmanuel Adebayor is being watched by Milan.
Arsene Wenger has revealed that getting Bendtner and Robin van Persie to sign extensions will be their number one priority in the offseason and it seems that the Danish forward is very far along the negotiations.
"It is of course a priority of mine to prolong my contract, and I have never said anything else," said Bendtner. "For me it is of course sweet to receive the backing from the manager, and I hope to stay at the club for a long time."
Bendtner joined Arsenal as a youngster at the age of 16 in 2004 and has tallied 24 goals in 90 first-team appearances. Van Persie has a couple of year left on his deal, but talks about a new deal are still in the works, and both parties have not been able to work out a resolution.
Adebayor's agent Stephane Courbis recently cast a cloud of uncertainty over the striker's future. The Italian press has linked the Togo forward with a move to Italy even after the appointment of Leonardo as manager of the Rossoneri.
However, Carlo Ancelotti is also an admirer of the forward, and should Chelsea sell Didier Drogba, Adebayor will be seen as more than a suitable successor.
Wenger has stressed that he wants Adebayor to remain with the Gunners next season, but he will not want to be dragged into an offseason of rumours and speculation regarding the striker's future with the club. Reports in Italy have alleged that Milan will also table a bid for Michael Essien.
