Sven not on Pompey shortlist
Sven-Goran Eriksson is not on the shortlist to become manager of Portsmouth, says the club's prospective new owner Sulaiman Al Fahim.
Al Fahim flew into the UK on Wednesday night ahead of further planned talks with the club's executive chairman Peter Storrie.
The Dubai billionaire has agreed a fee for Pompey and is now waiting for final approval from the Premier League.
Top of the agenda at Fratton Park is the coaching set-up for next season, and Al Fahim also intends to meet with caretaker boss Paul Hart on Friday to discuss the way forward.
Hart could yet be asked to take charge of Pompey on a full-time basis, but other names are in the frame to become the club's permanent manager.
One man repeatedly linked with the position in recent months is former England, Manchester City and Mexico coach Eriksson, but Al Fahim has moved to quash those rumours.
Speaking at a press conference in the United Arab Emirates before he jetted to London, the 32-year-old said: "He (Eriksson) is not on the shortlist. But nothing is finalised yet."
Al Fahim also stated he intends to take on the title of club chairman and that other directors will be invited onto the board.
In addition, the Arab tycoon and his associates are busy scouring the transfer market, and he has expressed interest in home-grown talent and a mystery UAE international.
"We are looking at hiring talented English players and I am interested in one UAE national player who is very talented," he said in quotes reported by the Portsmouth News.
