Manchester United have announced that they will play Spanish side Valencia in a pre-season friendly.

England's reigning champions are scheduled to play their Primera Liga counterparts on August 5 at Old Trafford.

Valencia's talented side currently includes the likes of David Villa and David Silva, and will represent a stern test for Sir Alex Ferguson's men during what is already a packed pre-season schedule for the Red Devils.

The beaten Champions League finalist are set to visit Asia where they will play four games before travelling to Germany to compete in the Audi Cup.

United, who were claimed their 18^th top-flight crown last season, will play Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday August 9.
