Fab: I would be delighted

Cesc Fabregas dropped a big hint that he will be delighted to join Barcelona if Pep Guardiola wants him.

The Arsenal captain has had to endure a tough season blighted by injuries and a team that were off the pace in the title chase.

Speaking to El Mundo Deportivo, he said: "I want to win trophies. When a player ends his career, he wants to be able to look back and feel that he was an important player and to have some medals,

"That is what everyone aims for. I want to win and I am happy at Arsenal, but we have four years without any success and, for a player that wants to win things, that is a long time.

"It is clear that it would be special, but I am also clear that Arsenal made me captain for half a season and that has brought added responsibility and ties me to the club even more.

"Now I would really like to lift a trophy as captain of the Gunners."

However, it could all change with just one call from his idol, Guardiola.

"If that happened, it would be unusual. I would be delighted," he revealed.

"Pep has always been my idol. I have always played in his position and wear the number four like him. He was my hero when I was young and the one I have tried to be like.

"I tried to imitate what he did as a player and now, as a coach, he is showing how good he is. He is someone that will always be important in my life."

The Primera Liga champions are said to be keen on bringing back their former youth player to link up with his compatriots, Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
