Dawson praises “unbelievable” Gomes
Michael Dawson has hailed his Tottenham Hotspur colleague Hurelho Gomes, claiming that the keeper is in “unbelievable” form.
Gomes was the butt of jokes and target of criticism earlier last season after a horrendous run of matches where he made error after error.
However, Dawson has refused to place any blame on the goalkeeper, saying that the entire team was responsible for the club's early struggles, even praising the Brazilian stopper for playing hurt.
"Gomes was unbelievable towards the end of the season," he told Spurs' official website.
"We weren't doing enough as a team to win football matches at the start of the season, but Gomes made a couple of mistakes and was unfortunately placed in the spotlight."
"He's a big character who played through injuries when it might have been easier for him to just chuck it in."
"In the end he came out on top and showed everyone what a great goalkeeper he is."
