Agent claims City bid for Maicon

Manchester City have launched a bid for Inter's Brazilian right-back Maicon, according to the player's agent.
Maicon's representative, Antonio Caliendo, this morning claimed that Inter have had an approach from Manchester City regarding his client, but insisted that the decision regarding the Brazilian's future lies with Inter.
Speaking to Italian TV station Antenna 3, Caliendo said Maicon would be willing to stay at Inter, but admitted there has been contact with other clubs.
"Maicon is the best right-back in the world," Caliendo said to Antenna 3.
"Besides Real Madrid, I rule out that Manchester United are looking for him, but I know that the Citizens have made an approach."
"However, the man who decides is [Inter] president [Massimo] Moratti. I would be happy if Maicon stayed at Inter to win the Champions League."
"Moratti says there is a 50 per cent chance of Maicon staying," Caliendo added, repeating the Nerazzurri president's recent statement.
It had earlier been reported that Inter technical director Marco Branca recently travelled to Madrid to open talks with Real.
"No one other than Moratti can predict these things. Modern football is not like it used to be, things rapidly change: everything can be sold and bought, there are books to balance and so on."
"As far as I am concerned, though, Maicon is tied to Inter for four more years," Caliendo concluded.
While Real Madrid were so far considered favourites to seal the fullback's signature if he did leave the San Siro, City's considerable financial resources may change that, while Chelsea have also reportedly expressed interest.
