Vidic: Fergie reacted quickly
Nemanja Vidic has renewed his allegiance to Man United, revealing how he declined offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Serbian international has received much acclaim, winning both Fans' and Players' Player of the Year Awards last season.
It is no surprise then that many clubs have come a-knocking.
In an interview with The Sun, the 27-year-old declared his loyalty to Old Trafford, "I am happy with the team and Manchester and the club's ambitions for next season.
"I got offers from Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid and I played a very honest game - I disclosed all these offers to my boss Sir Alex [Ferguson]. He reacted quickly.
Vidic though, did not go unrewarded as Ferguson raised his wages from £20,000 to £70,000 a week.
"I was told he was raising my pay to bring it to the level where my reputation is in the Premier League and Europe."
"After Milan and Real Madrid made their offers, Barcelona came in - they wanted to pay £30m for my services but after Sir Alex's move, I am definitely staying in Manchester until my contract expires in 2012,"continued Vidic.
The sought-after centre back has made 102 appearances and scored eight goals since joining United in 2006.
