Roque eyes Champs League spot
Manchester City new-boy Roque Santa Cruz has his sights set on achieving Champions League football with the Eastlands outfit.
Santa Cruz, who was officially unveiled as a City player on Wednesday following his £17million pound move from Blackburn Rovers, is Blues boss Mark Hughes' latest summer recruit, a spending spree that could also see Carlos Tevez and Samuel Eto'o join the City revolution in the next few days.
Having been reunited with former Blackburn boss Hughes, Santa Cruz has admitted that he is now desperate to break the Premier League's ‘Big Four' monopoly and play in the Champions League - just as he did during his spell with German giants Bayern Munich.
"Mark has explained the ambitions of the club and getting into the top four is one of those aims.
"My dream is to get back to that level. It will be hard to break the clubs that are there already and it may take more than one season.
Despite his hefty price tag, the Paraguay international is convinced that he can handle the pressure as City
"It's a pressure and expectation I want to have," explained the 28-year-old.
"When I was at Bayern we had that kind of pressure in every game.
"No matter what game it is, at Bayern you have to win, and that is what we will find here at City this season.
"It's very important that everyone, not just me, knows that the mentality of the team needs to change gradually into one that comes every week to win games and perform no matter how players feel."
