Tribunal to decide Sturridge transfer

Tribunal to decide Sturridge transfer

A Premier League tribunal will be set up to decide how much Chelsea will pay Manchester City for Daniel Sturridge.

The 19-year-old striker is out of contract at Eastlands, but since he is under 23, Chelsea must still pay a development fee for him.

According to The Independent, there is a huge difference between both clubs' valuation of the player.

Manchester City want £10 million for Sturridge, their position being that they have developed a player with enormous potential.

Chelsea, however, do not believe that Sturridge has played enough games for City to warrant that price, and are instead offering £5 million plus incentives. Sturridge, who joined City from Coventry in 2002, has only made 21 league appearances for the club.

Therefore, since both clubs are seemingly unable to reach an agreement, a tribunal will be called in to resolve the matter.

Sturridge's transfer to Chelsea is still expected to go through, as City have no intention of keeping the player at Eastlands against his will.
