1984: Born August 23, Greenwich.
2001: August 1 - Signs a three-year contract with West Ham, his first professional deal.
2002: October 17 - Joins Millwall on a four-week loan.
2003: January 22 - Makes his West Ham and Premier League debut in a 4-2 defeat away to Charlton.
March 18 - Signs a new four-year contract with the Hammers.
May 11 - Plays what would be his last game for West Ham on the final day of the season after a 1-1 draw against Birmingham consigns them to relegation.
July 15 - Becomes Chelsea's first signing of the Roman Abramovich era when the Blues pay £6million for the right-back.
August 13 - Makes his Chelsea debut away to Zilina in the first leg of their Champions League third round qualifying tie.
November 18 - Makes his England debut as a 16th-minute substitute for Gary Neville in a friendly against Denmark.
2005: February 27 - Wins Carling Cup with Chelsea after coming on as a second-half substitute in their 3-2 extra-time win against Liverpool.
May - Helps Chelsea to their first top-flight league title in 50 years.
September - Sent home from the England Under-21 squad ahead of their European Championship qualifier against Germany.
2006: May - Chelsea win the league for a second successive year, but Johnson misses out on a winner's medal after making just four league appearances.
June - Flies to Dutch club Feyenoord to start talks about a loan move, however, he eventually agrees a year-long deal at Portsmouth.
2007: January - Handed an £80 on-the-spot fine for allegedly trying to steal a toilet seat from a B&Q store in Dartford, Kent.
August 31 - Joins Portsmouth on transfer deadline day for a fee reported to be £4m. He signs a four-year contract at Fratton Park.
2008: March 26 - Makes his first appearance for England in almost three years as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat to France in Paris.
May 17 - Wins the FA Cup with Portsmouth after they beat Cardiff 1-0 in the final at Wembley.
2009: January 9 - Signs a new four-and-a-half year deal with Portsmouth after he had been linked him with a move to Liverpool.
May - Named in the Professional Footballers' Association Team of The Year.
June 16 - Portsmouth agree a bid reported to be £17million from Liverpool.
June 18 - Portsmouth reveal they have also accepted a bid from Chelsea, with the player to decide which club he wants to join.
June 22 - Liverpool confirm they have reached an agreement with Johnson and Portsmouth to sign the player.
June 26 - Johnson signs a four-year deal with the Reds.
