Drogba satisfied with pre-season start
Didier Drogba enjoyed his first pre-season outing for Chelsea after he scored against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
According to chelseafc.com, the Ivory Coast striker was 'happy with his contribution' for the team in California.
Drogba had rejoined the team late after being called up for his country's African World Cup qualifiers in late June.
'Yes, it's a good start for my first game and my first shot on target, although it was deflected,' he said. 'I turned quickly because I had space and time to turn and this is what happens when you play with two strikers, you have time for your movement, so it was good.'
Salomon Kalou was paired with Drogba but both of them were withdrawn at half-time to protect them from the heat at the Rose Bowl stadium.
'Yes 45 minutes was perfect for me,' he acknowledged. 'I started training maybe 10 days ago, so 45 minutes was enough.'
The game was also an opportunity for the squad to do some catching up with former manager José Mourinho, now in command at Inter.
'We spoke like normal, it was good to see him and everyone, his coaches Rui Faria and Silvino, so it has been a nice trip to LA,' he smiled.
Next up is AC Milan in Baltimore on Friday, and this time it will be a chance for manager Carlo Ancelotti to do some catching up with his former colleagues.
