Liverpool Player Ratings

Kelvin Leong rates the Liverpool players as they round up their Asian Tour in Singapore against the Lions.

Starting XI

Diego Cavalieri - 6

Not troubled at all by the Lions' attack.

Phillip Degen - 7

Linked up well with Benayoun down the right. Looks good on the overlap and took care of Shahril Ishak when he needed to.

Singapore vs Liverpool blow-by-blow

Daniel Agger - 6

Played as a left-back in the first half before switching to central defence. His temperament was caught out by some rough play by Singapore throughout the match.

Mikel Dominguez - 7

The youngster looked comfortable alongside the more experienced Carragher. Decent prospect to replace the retired Sami Hyypia.

Jamie Carragher- 8

Marshalled his defence like the seasoned professional he has always been. Definitely the rock in defence for Rafa's men.

Lucas Leiva - 7

Some nice neat touches in the game but was outmuscled by a stout Singapore midfield in some instances.

Javier Mascherano - 6

Victim of some rough treatment dished out by the Lions but made the pass which put Voronin through for the first goal.

David Ngog - 5

Big strong youngster who still cannot seem to fit into the Liverpool system. Did nothing to convince the sceptics that he is ready to be Torres' successor.

Ryan Babel - 5

With the devastating pace he has got in his armoury, the Dutchman should really have troubled the Singapore defence a lot more. Almost couldn't tell if he was on the pitch.

Andriy Voronin - 8

Was seen trying to rally the young guns around him and even scored the first goal with a venomous shot beyond Hassan Sunny.

Substitutes

Peter Gulasci - 5

How do you judge a goalkeeper who never got more than five touches on the ball?

Dirk Kuyt - 9

Given the captain's armband when Carragher came off. Laid on the killer passes for Torres and Nemeth to score. Hardworking, great technique and intelligent running. That is what makes Kuyt such a crucial part of Benitez's plans.

Fernando Torres - 9

When the Spaniard is on the field, he almost never fails to score. A simple tap-in by Torres gave the Reds a fourth goal.

Albert Riera - 9

Looked every bit like the star player he was at Espanyol. Showed amazing technique as he hammered a shot past Sunny in the Singapore goal.

Emiliano Insua - 8

Great showing by the Argentine left-back. Together with Riera, the duo terrorised the Lions defence in the second-half.

Andre Dossena - 6

Played as a left winger but surely, he has to start showing some signs that he can be the regular left-back for Liverpool.

Damien Plessis - 5

In all fairness, Plessis was a mere passenger in the game with Singapore failing to put together any decent attacks.

Krisztian Nemeth - 9

Two goals from the youngster touted to have a breakthrough season this time out. Very possible outcome if he continues this rich vein of goalscoring form.

Xabi Alonso - 7

Wonderful reception from the fans as he put in a workman-like shift in the middle of the park. His passing almost never fails to find its mark.

Martin Kelly - 6

Rarely troubled as he watched his strikers put on a show.

Jay Spearing - 6

Played as a right-back and coped with the attacking prowess of Qiu Li well.
