Wenger: Chamakh deal is over

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will bide his time over Marouane Chamakh and wait until Bordeaux lower their valuation of the forward.

Wenger has declared a possible deal as "terminated" for the moment due to the French club's current asking price for the Morocco international, which is believed to be around £15million for a player with one year left on his contract.

"In five months, if he doesn't prolong his contract, Chamakh will be free to talk to any club and Bordeaux won't get anything," Wenger told L'Equipe.

"In the current context, to me, it is over. Let's say that at the moment it is terminated.

"I like Chamakh, he is a forward that attracts me, but I already have (Theo) Walcott, (Nicklas) Bendtner, (Robin) Van Persie, (Andrey) Arshavin and Eduardo. I am in no rush.

"My offer seems fair to me, taking the market into account. Chamakh would be good, but there are other options should we wish to pursue them."

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson expects Wenger to make at least one more signing to add to Thomas Vermaelen.

"Armand Traore and Fran Merida are back and there is the massive boost of Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo being back on board," he said on Sky Sports News.

"I think Arsene will add a minimum of one, possibly two."
