Moyes hails 'terrific' Lescott
David Moyes praised the performances of Joleon Lescott and the Everton fans after the 2-1 win over Malaga at Goodison Park.
Defender Lescott was playing in front of those fans for the first time since becoming the subject of two bids from Manchester City, both rejected by the Everton manager.
Lescott, who has intimated to Moyes that he would be interested in City's approach, played the full 90 minutes and received a tremendous reception from the Toffees' support.
Moyes said: "Joleon played really well, he was terrific.
"And you only needed to hear the crowd's reaction to him, they know that what we are doing is correct. There was a lot of cheering for him, and rightly so.
"But we are consistent here, we told everyone just after last season that we wouldn't be selling any players and they are still here."
Moyes had criticised his players' attitude earlier in the week, but the victory over Malaga with goals from Leon Osman and Louis Saha, was a big improvement.
Moyes added: "We played well, that was much more like them after a couple of earlier performances in pre-season.
"Pienaar and Lescott back from injuries does make a difference, so when we get people like Mikel Arteta and Phil Jagielka also returning then we have a good team.
"We have a good team but what we do not have is back-up, and that is what we are trying to get."
Moyes also confirmed that Everton's bid for Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos is still being considered by the Londoners, but that a deal could be close.
