Penders' Rumours: Chamakh To Arsenal

Penders' Rumours: Chamakh To Arsenal

ESPNSTAR.com's transfer guru Andy Penders brings you his verdict of the latest rumours in the Barclays Premier League!

Tuesday 11th August

A reminder yesterday that I said Theo Walcott should go to Manchester City while Arsenal should listen to offers for Cesc Fabregas. I am also hoping that Ryan Shawcross of Stoke will join Liverpool. We will wait and see if I will be proven correct, which I have no doubt that I will be because I am good like that.

Lots to talk about in the transfer world today, so let's see if we can predict the future. Today's headlines are dominated by Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton and Notts County (naturally).

Who is Marouane Chamakh? He is constantly linked with a move to Arsenal. Well I can tell you that he is a Moroccan international who plays for Bordeaux, where he has scored 54 goals in 224 appearances. He is tall. And that's about all I know.

Arsenal keep offering very little money for him while Bordeaux are hoping for a super payday. He has got only one more year left on his contract and the French side could lose him for nothing at the end of the season. They would be very silly to do that so a move away from Ligue Un is a certainty.

Trouble is with Wenger, he hates paying big money - £10m max. Just stump it up will you Arsene and Chamakh will hope to make it two league titles in a row for himself.

Chamakh will join Arsenal before the end of the season.

Elsewhere, David Silva is attracting interest from Manchester United and Liverpool. Don't get confused with David Villa. It is David Silva. I suppose I could confuse with by saying David from Valencia but that would just be silly.

So, Silva will join Manchester United although a lot of the papers reckon Rafa has already bagged the deal. But Rafa wants Silva and is seeing if he can tempt the other David to Anfield.

Apparently.

Anyway, I don't reckon either deal will happen. Neither Silva or Villa will move to the Premier League before the transfer window closes.

Can we please hear less of Joleon Lescott and his move to Manchester City?

One of the internet forum thingies reckons that Arsenal will make a late move for Lescott because Moyes does not want to sell the defender to those greedy Citizens.

I can see how that works.

But would Wenger pay that sort of money when he would probably reckon Djourou can do the job for him because he discovered him?

Anyway, I don't reckon Lescott will move. Especially because of his price tag and especially because City are the only real serious bidders.

And David doesn't like Mark.

Finally, what about Notts County making an approach for Sol Campbell? Never going to happen. Ok, I know County (in League Two!) have signed some decent players and are punching above their weight but whether Campbell would go there is another thing altogether.

Perhaps it is just his agent drumming up the 'I hope everyone remembers that Sol left Portsmouth in the summer and is on a free' kind of thing.

So, only one real transfer going through for me today and that is Chamakh to Arsenal - perfect.

I love this transfer window. You can say anything you like and no one can disagree with you. Frank Ribery to Chelsea. Confirmed. See!

And that just might happen.
