Terry: I wasn't tempted by City
Chelsea captain John Terry has admitted that a move to Manchester City simply wasn't tempting enough.
The England international had been offered a staggering £300,000-a-week deal by mega-rich City, in a summer move that would have cost the Eastlands outfit a hefty £28million.
However, despite Terry admitting that he has a high regard for City boss Mark Hughes, the 28-year-old is adamant that the thought of moving to City failed to spark his imagination.
"If I'd been tempted I'd have gone," Terry told The Sun ahead of England's friendly clash with Holland.
"I was flattered but that was it. The bid was but I don't know what kind of figures would have been thrown at me.
"I got a call from Peter Kenyon and told him I was flattered but I didn't want to leave."
Throughout the saga, Terry, who has only ever played for Chelsea, also wanted to be assured that the club's other key personnel would not be leaving Stamford Bridge.
He added: "I didn't want the club to sell Didier Drogba but we'd heard all the rumours and I wanted these kind of players around me. I wanted assurances they would be."
