Manchester City will be looking to extend their 100% record against Portsmouth whilst elsewhere teams battle to climb out of trouble.

Aston Villa vs Fulham

Aston Villa central defender Curtis Davies is a major doubt for Sunday's Premier League clash with visiting Fulham.

Davies suffered yet another recurrence of his long-standing shoulder problem during the Europa League qualifier with Rapid Vienna on Thursday.

Youngster Shane Lowry could replace Davies if Villa have failed to complete the signing of Manchester City skipper Richard Dunne in time.

Left-back Stephen Warnock will be in line for his debut after completing his move from Blackburn on a four-year deal.

Fulham's Clint Dempsey is expected to overcome an ankle injury in time to make the trip.

Manager Roy Hodgson will give late fitness tests to Danny Murphy (calf), Paul Konchesky (knee) and Bobby Zamora (Achilles) while Andrew Johnson (shoulder), Simon Davies (foot) and Toni Kallio (Achilles) are out.

Jonathan Greening could make his debut but fellow new signing Kagisho Dikgacoi, who completed a move from South African club Golden Arrows on Thursday, is still lacking match fitness.

Teams:

Aston Villa (from): Friedel, Guzan, Beye, Davies, Cuellar, Lowry, Shorey, Warnock, Milner, Reo-Coker, Sidwell, Petrov, A Young, Delph, Albrighton, Gardner, Heskey, Carew, Agbonlahor.

Fulham (from): Zuberbhler, Schwarzer, Stockdale, Konchesky, Stoor, Pantsil, Hughes, Hangeland, Kelly, Baird, Smalling, Duff, Andranik, Riise, Dempsey, Etuhu, Greening, Nevland, Kamara, Zamora, Johnson, Seol.

Everton vs Wigan

Defender Sylvain Distin is expected to make his Everton debut on Sunday against Wigan after sealing his move from Portsmouth.

The Frenchman's arrival will free up Phil Neville to revert to a midfield role as the team aim to get back on track in the Barclays Premier League.

Diniyar Bilyaletdinov could also secure a place in the squad along with Aiyegbeni Yakubu who played the last 14 minutes of the Europa League play-off match against Sigma Olomouc on Thursday after recovering from a ruptured Achilles. Phil Jagielka, Mikel Arteta and Victor Anichebe remain sidelined through injury.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is likely to make wholesale changes for the trip to Goodison Park.

The Spaniard was furious after the midweek Carling Cup defeat to Blackpool when the nine squad players he brought in failed to perform.

Only defender Paul Scharner and midfielder Mohamed Diame from the starting line-up at Bloomfield Road are likely to survive the cull as Martinez seeks to prevent a third successive league defeat.

Teams:

Everton (from): Howard, Nash, Hibbert, Baines, Yobo, Distin, Duffy, Neville, Rodwell, Osman, Fellaini, Pienaar, Cahill, Gosling, Saha, Yakubu, Vaughan, Jo, Wallace, Baxter, Turner, Bilyaletdinov.

Wigan (from): Kirkland, Melchiot, Scharner, Bramble, Figueroa, N'Zogbia, Thomas, Diame, Koumas, Gomez, Rodallega, Edman, Boyce, Brown, Watson, Cho, Sinclair, Scotland, King, McCarthy, Pollitt.

Portsmouth vs Man City
Portsmouth goalkeeper David James looks set to overcome a knee injury and take his place against former club Manchester City on Sunday.

James trained on Friday and manager Paul Hart is confident he will be fit, while new recruits Tommy Smith and Michael Brown could make their debuts after joining from Watford and Wigan respectively. However, Paul Hart's squad has been weakened by the sale of Sylvain Distin to Everton.

The game comes too soon for Hermann Hreidarsson, who is still suffering with hamstring trouble and Steve Finnan and Papa Bouba Diop both face another two weeks out with a similar injury.

Mark Hughes reports no fresh injury concerns as Manchester City look to maintain their 100% start to the season.

Hughes named a strong line-up for Thursday night's Carling Cup win at Crystal Palace and could keep the same side.

Craig Bellamy and Nigel de Jong would both hope for a chance to shine, although they may have to be content with a place on the bench.

Teams:

Portsmouth (from): James, Kaboul, Mokoena, Mullins, Nugent, Utaka, Kranjcar, Kanu, Ashdown, Hughes, Begovic, Basinas, Belhadj, Vanden Borre, Piquionne, Smith, Niemi.

Man City (from): Given, Taylor, Richards, Zabaleta, Toure, Lescott, Onuoha, Bridge, Barry, De Jong, Wright-Phillips, Ireland, Robinho, Weiss, Petrov, Tevez, Adebayor, Bellamy.
