Lampard gearing up for Liverpool

Frank Lampard reckons Chelsea are prepared to take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Blues midfielder, who has not scored in his last eight games, wants Chelsea to step up against the Reds.

"It's a big game on Sunday against Liverpool but they lost the other night and will be trying to improve as well," he said in the London Evening Standard.

Liverpool were dealt their first loss in the Champions League by Fiorentina. In contrast, Chelsea came out tops against APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus.

Despite the win, Chelsea's critics were not convinced about Chelsea's performance. Lampard, though, is not too worried.

"I don't know why people say we're not clicking. We have only lost one game this season. We lost against Wigan and we didn't play well there at all. We have now come to Apoel and won so that's what counts."

"If you look over the season, we have clicked together as a team. We try to win every game and when we don't we just try harder in the next match."

Games between Chelsea and Liverpool in recent seasons have been tight, tactical affairs, with the exception of the remarkable 7-5 aggregate scoreline in the Champions League quarter-finals last term.

In the corresponding league fixture last season, Liverpool ended Chelsea's record 86-match unbeaten home run, and captain John Terry knows it will be a tough test.

"The confidence wasn't knocked at Wigan - you can't afford not to believe in yourselves or your team-mates.

"But we have to be better against Liverpool. They will be up for it and they are a big club so we will have to respond again when we play them."
