Toure on road to recovery
Kolo Toure has insisted that he will be available for Manchester City's next game against Wigan Athletic.
The Eastlands captain was thought to be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after damaging a heel towards the end of City's 1-1 draw away at Aston Villa last Monday.
However the Ivory Coast international, who will miss his country's World Cup qualifier against Malawai this weekend, is adamant that he will be fit to be selected for the trip to Wigan.
"I am having some pains but it will be fine for me after the international break," Toure told Sky Sports.
"I was desperate to play for my country against Malawi because we can qualify that day there, but I could not do it.
"I would like to let City fans know we are together and I should be fine.
"It was a very hard kick on my Achilles, but nothing is broken there."
In that game against Villa, Richard Dunne had given the hosts a half-time lead with his first goal since his £6million move from City.
But Craig Bellamy rescued a deserved point for Mark Hughes' side midway through the second period, a result and performance that Toure believes show City are ready to grab a top four place this season.
"We had a difficult game at Villa, but we managed to earn a point and that shows we are serious to be competing for top spots this season," he said.
