Anelka misses the Guus old days
Ahead of Chelsea's game against Aston Villa, striker Nicolas Anelka is reminded of the debut of Guus Hiddink in the same fixture last season.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Anelka described the positive effects that Hiddink brought to the club at that time.
"I think he came in and brought with him some discipline on the pitch," Anelka told chelseafc.com.
"When we first trained and played under him we knew tactically what he wanted to do, it was very clear for us and we felt like we were more powerful as a unit,' said the Frenchman.
After Hiddink joined Chelsea in mid-February, the Blues won the FA Cup success and reached the Champions League semi-finals. They lost only one game in his three-month stay.
"In the week leading to the first game at Aston Villa we worked on tactics," continued Anelka. "He knew what he wanted to do and we worked all week to do the best on the pitch at the weekend, working on how we wanted to play, using Didier and me, but I was a little bit on the right."
