Chelsea playmaker Deco has revealed that it was Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti who talked him into staying at Stamford Bridge.

The Portugal international was sought after by Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho in the summer, but an agreement could not be reached.

Deco has now stated that it was Ancelotti who told him that he would be needed at Stamford Bridge in the new season.

"I spoke with Ancelotti at the start of the season," the Portuguese told The Sun. "And he told me to stay.

"Having that discussion with me was very important because it is fundamental having that trust in a coach.

"Now, I am doing well and happy to play," he concluded.
