Evra: It was painful losing to Liverpool

Manchester United's Patrice Evra could not hide his frustration after his side lost 2-0 at Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

The France international revealed to Man United's official website that the team was shocked by the defeat. He also thinks the only way his team can come back from this is to go on and win the league title again.

"(Losing to Liverpool) is the most pain you can have when you play for United," the Frenchman told manutd.com.

"There was a big silence in the dressing room afterwards and we will need a few days to recover from this big disappointment for us, for the staff, for the fans. Now I think we need to do what we did last year - win the league after losing to Liverpool. We also need to make sure we show the real United team at Old Trafford," promised the defender.

Aalong with Evra, Dimitar Berbatov was also booked by referee Andre Marriner. Defender Nemanja Vidic, who received two yellow cards, was sent off for the third game in a row against Liverpool.

Evra questioned the referee's decision to only book Jamie Carragher after fouling Michael Owen when the former was the last man.

"I don't understand why Carragher only got a yellow card for fouling Owen when I think he was the last man," Evra said.

At the same time, according to manutd.com, Evra was puzzled by his team's lack of chances in front of goal

"The advice was to play our football but we didn't do that and I don't know why. Liverpool were aggressive but we didn't play and that's why it's so frustrating to lose.

"The display was poor today. Normally when United play we create at least five or six clear chances but we only had the one when Valencia hit the crossbar. It's not enough if you want to win against Liverpool," said the full-back.
